This half term Apex Sports have been running a Dance Club for some girls and boys across the school. They have been learning about street dance and putting together a routine. They all looked like they were enjoying the dancing when I went down to the hall to watch and I hope they will be showing off their skills in an assembly after the Easter break.

Tag Rugby Tournament
Today we took 30 children from years 5 and 6 to the annual Tag Rugby Tournament held at St Albans Rugby Club.
The 3 teams (2 Year 6 and 1 Year 5) were placed into 3 spearate pools against other schools from St Albans. The children all had lots of fun scoring many tries in the process. all the teams had mixed fortunes in the pool stages however they all managed to notch up at least one win. Unfortunately, non of the 3 teams managed to progress to the quarterfinals, however, special mention must go to team 1 who lost only a single match to the eventual champions which meant they could not progress from the group stage.
All the children had lots of fun and showed excellent skills which i hope they are able to utilize in future sports event.
Below are some photos from the day and a big thank you must be given to all those parents who helped with lifts to the event.

St Albans Primary Schools Swimming Gala
On Saturday evening our swimming team, made up of 13 year 5 and 6 children, took part in the St Albans Swimming Gala. It is always a really exciting event, with lots of noise, which the children love taking part in. All the children take part in one relay event and some have an individual race aswell. The children were fantastic and we had some great results in the races, particularly for the girls. In the girls' individual races we came 3rd in the backstroke and freestyle and 2nd in the breaststroke. In the relay races the boys came 3rd in the freestyle and 4th in the medley, while the girls came 2nd in freestyle and 2nd in the medley. Overall the girls' team came a brilliant 2nd, and the whole team were 4th.
Well done to all the swimmers, it is our best result since we started participating in the gala.
Thank you to all the parents who supported the team.

Football match v Wheatfields
On Wednesday the A team played their last league game against Wheatfields at home. As usual the boys played well and had a few chances to score. However, Wheatfields scored first, but the boys kept battling and before half time equalised. In the second half we were strong but were unable to score. The final score was 1-1. Thank you to Mr Burgess for refereeing.
Unfortunately despite only losing 2 games we do not have enough points to win the league as it was very tight. I will let you know our final position when all the games have been played.
The boys can be very proud of their performance in the league.
Thank you to all the parents who have helped with lifts, supported the team and even refereed, I couldn't have done it without you.

Netball Tournament 2015
Bernard's Heath Junior Netball Team |
The girls played in Group 1 and played superb netball showing how hard they have worked all year at Netball Club. Miss Brown would like to thank all the girls for showing great skill and sportsmanship in all the games. Also the girls appreciated having the support of their parents and Mrs Kilpatrick.
They won 3 and lost 2 which put them in 3rd place in their group just missing out on a semi-final position.

Muddy Challenge
Last Friday, Mr Reynolds and myself took 44 children from across Years 3-6 to a charity 'Muddy Challenge' held at Garden Fields school.
The children were challenged to take on a assault course including hay bail hurdles, tunnels, tires, a crawl tarp and an added sprinkler, that added the 'muddy' to the challenge, as the weather was particularly un-spring like last week.
All the children had a lot of fun and enjoyed themselves at the event. A special mention must go out to Tommy who came first in the Year 5-6 age group. Many thanks to the parents who helped walk the children to Garden Fields and to the staff of Garden Fields for organizing such a fun event.
