Football match v Mandeville

On Friday a mixture of A and B team players had a match against Mandeville.  It was a great game, very competitive with chances on both sides.  I was really impressed with the attitiude of the boys and their battling for the ball.  The final score was a win to us 3-2.

Cross Country Meet Fleetville

Our cross country team took part in their second meet on Wednesday.  Luckily the rain held off until after the event.  All the boys and girls who took part ran very well with many of them improving their finishing positions.  I will give you an update later as to where we are in the league.

Football match v London Colney

On Tuesday the B team played London Colney in a league game.  Our defence was fantastic and contained most of London Colney's attacking play.  We had lots of shots on goal, but their goal keeper was very strong.  At the end of  the 1st half it was still 0-0.  In the second half we kept attacking until eventually it paid off and George scored a lovely goal.  We were then able to maintain that lead until the end of the game.   Another good win for the team.

Football match v Mandeville

On Friday the C team had a football match against Mandeville.  We started nervously and it took a little while for the boys to play as a team and start passing effectively.  However, once we had scored our first goal the boys relaxed and we began to dominate the game.  All the boys can take credit for the final score of 7-0 to us.  Well done boys.

Football Match V Bowmans Green

On Tuesday our B team played against Bowmans Green in a league game.  It was the first time that some of the year 5 boys had played for the school but they didn't show any nerves.  It was a close game and Bowmans Green had several shots on goal.  Our boys kept battling and were rewarded with 2 good goals from George and Tio.  The final score was 2-0 to us, a great start to the season.

Girls Wix Cup vs Killigrew 6/10/15

Today the girls had a game in the first round of the Wix cup away to Killigrew. All the girls were excited to play there first game of the season with some girls who played last year joined by some new face from Year 5.

The game started well with 2 teams that were well matched and the ball moving freely. Unfortunately just before the end of the first half a powerful shot from one of the Killigrew was too hot to handle for Molly in goal and just trickled over the line (according to their referee, when will the goal line technology from the premier league filter down to the girls school games I wonder?)

The second half started brightly and the girls went from strength to strength having more of the ball and pushing for their goal, which came from the boot of Anesu! With this added confidence, the girls pushed for the winner. Francesca grazed the outside of the post and missed just wide with the 2 best chances, however the winner wouldn't come!

As this was a cup match, extra time loomed. The girls pushed hard for the winning goal and almost had it with Anesu's break but she could only fire straight at the keeper! Unluckily in the haste to push for a winner the defence was left with holes and Killigrew scored again before sealing the game with a third!

Overall the girls played excellently and were unlucky to lose. We are now out of this cup competition but their play bodes well for the rest of the season looking for that elusive win!
