Sainsbury's Games Sportshall Qualifiers

On Thursday 20 girls and boys from year 6 took part in a very exciting Sportshall qualifier with 6 other local schools.  First the children competed in field events including chest push, standing long jump, triple jump and speed bounce. They then moved on to the track events which consisted of different relay races.
Our team were amazing in the track events, winning many of the races and the children should be proud of their efforts.   We had to wait until Friday for the final results which were very close.  3 teams went through from our qualifiers but unfortunately although both the boys and girls teams came third in their groups, we were just pushed into 4th place overall by 4 points.

Despite this disappointment I think the children all had a really enjoyable time competing for the school.

Football Match v Killigrew

On Monday our boys football A team played Killigrew in the league.  As usual it was a very close game and we had a few chances on goal before Oscar tapped one in from a great corner.  Unfortunately Killigrew then equalised very quickly.  Jack then saved a penalty so that at half time it was still 1-1.   In the second half Killigrew scored to take the lead.  Despite our best efforts it looked like we were going to lose the game until the last minute when Joe managed to get one past their keeper to level the game at 2-2.  I was really proud of the boys team effort, they battled to the end and it paid off.
Thank you to Mr Burgess for refereering.

Penalty Shootout at Clarence Park

On Saturday 17th, 10 boys form the football team took part in a penalty shootout against Wheatfields during half time of a St Albans City football match. Unfortunately the boys, despite their best efforts, lost the lost the shootout and therefore will not be progressing to the next round.

However, all the boys had a great time watching the match and it was lovely to see so many other children from the school supporting the boys and St Albans City.

Below are some photos from the day.

Football Match v Wheatfields

On Thursday our boys B team played Wheatfields B team. We only had 7 players, so the boys were quite tired by the end of the match as they had worked so hard throughout the game.  In the first half Finlay scored and then in the second half Kobi and Tommy both scored, so that the final score was 3-0 to us.  Well done boys.

Football Match v Fleetville

On Monday our football team played against Fleetville.  The first half was very evenly matched with chances for both sides, eventually we did manage to score so the first half ended 1-0 to us.  In the second half they attacked us much more strongly but with some fantastic defending from Tyler and Samson they didn't manage to get through to goal.  We grew in confidence and Archie was able to score a hat trick.  The final score was 4-0 to us.  A brilliant game boys...well done.

Netball Club

We have a home match against Garden Fields on 26th January. Three matches will take place so club will not be on for some members. Normally we would try to accommodate everyone but we don't want children standing around getting cold.
So if your child does not have a match letter, there will be no club on the 26th January but we will be back as normal on the 2nd February.
Thank you Miss Brown / Mrs Withers

St Albans City Football Club visit

During our Thursday assembly we were lucky to have members of St Albans City Football club, including their mascot Sammy. They talked to the children about the importance of healthy eating and living and answered lots of interesting questions from the children.
They also gave out free children's tickets and reduced price adult tickets for this Saturdays game.  It would be great if you came along as our boys are taking part in the penalty shoot out.
