Football match v St Bernadettes

On Monday the football team played St Bernadettes in the Wix Cup.  It was another hard game against a very good side.  St Bernadettes scored first, but we quickly responded with an equaliser, then just before the end of the 1st half they scored 2 quick goals.   In the second half they kept up the pressure and scored 3 more goals. Although we continued to play well and had a couple of good chances on goal we were only able to score one more goal.  The final score was 6-2.
Let's hope our luck changes in the last game next week before the Christmas break.

Football Match v Cunninghamhill

On Thursday the boys A team played against Cunninghamhill in the league.   Unfortunately it was not going to be our day and by the end of the first half we were 4-0 down.  In the second half we showed a bit more of our usual style of play, but were still unable to score.  The boys battled hard, but at the end of the game the score was 6-0 to Cunninghamhill.
This is our first loss in the season, so I think the boys can still be very pleased with their results so far and use this game as a learning experience.

Table Tennis Tournament

On Tuesday 12 children from years 5 and 6 represented Bernards Heath Juniors in a level 2 table tennis tournament.  The children were divided into 3 teams of 4, 2 boys teams and 1 girls team.    Each team was in a pool with three or four other schools.  The children all played 2 or 3 games each and their scores were added together.
All the children played extemely well and there were some very close matches.  The year 6 boys came second in their pool, while the year 5 boys came 3rd in their pool.
We were pleased to see lots of team support and the children having fun!

Football match v Fleetville

On Tuesday our boys B team played Fleetville B in a league match.  It was a very close game with good attempts on goal by both sides.  Dylan pulled off some very good saves.  In the first half Fleetville scored from a quick breakaway but despite our efforts we were unable to get one back.   We started well in the second half, but unfortunately Fleetville scored another goal with a very good header.   In the last minutes we looked like we might score, but their goalie kept the ball out.  The final score was 2-0 to Fleetville.  All the boys played very well.

Cross Country Friendlyat Garden Fields

More than 60 children from all year groups took part in a Cross Country meet at Garden Fields.  There were 3 schools competing; Garden Fields, Kings and ourselves.  The races were divided up into boys and girls and involved running around their field 2 and half times.  It was quite a hard run with an up hill section.  All the children ran really well and can be very pleased with themselves.  There were some individual successes which included several 1st and 2nd positions.  Overall we came 1st which was an amazing result.
Well done to all the children who took part, we are very proud of you and I look forward to seeing some of you at district sports and future cross country events.   Thank you to the parents for your support.

Skipping workshop

The children had a great time learning new individual and group skipping skills in their skipping workshops. They were also treated to an amazing skipping display by one of the coaches. We are looking forward to some of the children demonstrating their new skills on Friday.

Girls Football Cup vs Wheatfields

The girls played their 3rd game of the season in the district cup against Wheatfields on the 11th of November. With a slightly changed side hopes where high of a win this time.

As the game started the girls played well and held there shape but where undone by a long ball through the middle going down 1 - 0. Despite this early setback, the girls kept their heads up and where quickly level as Francisca scored the teams first goal of the season.

Wheatfields then took more control as they worked their way to a commanding 4 - 1 lead just after half time but the girls never gave up and Francisca managed to score 2 more goals completing a hat-trick.

The team then smelt blood and pushed on for the equalizer and then the winner. However, as is the way, when pushing forward the opposition caught us on the break and score a 5th. the match ended 5-3 to Wheatfields meaning we are unfortunately out of both cup competitions now but the girls very much enjoyed the game and were pleased with scoring their first goals.

Again a big thank you to all the parents who came to support the girls.

Girls Football League vs Skyswood

Last Thursday, the girls played their first match within the league against Skyswood.

The girls were determined to put the last game behind them and start their league campaign well. In the first half, the sides where equally matched, however Skyswood managed to sneak a lead from a long ball forward.

As the second half began we began to take more control of the ball and gained more and more possession which lead to a succession of close chances. as we pushed for the equalizer Skyswood managed to catch us on the break however the heroics of Jade in goal managed to keep them out. Unfortunately, before the game ended we were unable to score an equalizer and Skyswood scored a second leading to a 2-0 loss.

Despite the score, the girls showed great heart and a great improvement in thier play leading us to hope for improved results in the future.

A big thank you must be given to all the parents and family who came to support the girls and helped with lifts to the game.

Football Match v Wheatfields

The boys A team played in a league match today against Wheatfields.  As usual it was a hard fought game.  We scored first with a confident goal from Joe, taken when their goal keeper was out of position. However before the end of the first half they struck back to level the score.   In the second half both teams had chances and we had a narrow escape with Henry clearing off the line.   The game ended in a well deserved draw 1-1.
Our next game is a league mathc against Cunninghamhill on Thursday 20th Nov.

Wix Cup Football Match V Mount Pleasant Lane

On Thursday our A team replayed their Wix Cup match v Mount Pleasant Lane.  From the start our boys showed determination and great team spirit, with lots of excellent passing and defending.  So it was well deserved when we went 1-0 up before half time.   In the second half MPL were strong, but we held on and scored 2 more goals, so that the final score was 3-0.  This means we go through to the next round against St Bernadettes on the 24th November.
Well done boys.
