St Albans Basketball Festival

On Monday, 12 children from year 6 traveled to Oaklands college to take part in the St Albans Primary Basketball Festival. The children were split into 2 mixed teams playing in different pools. Both teams competed brilliantly, winning thier opening games convincingly, with shots raining in from all over the court. All the children showed excellent attitude and effort utilising the skills that they have been practicing over the past half term.
As the competiton progressed both teams took part in come incredibly close matches winning as many as they lost, often by a single basket. Unfortunately niether team made it to the semifinals but this should not take away from the childrens achievement in the games played. I hope all the children enjoyed the competition and will take there skills forward to play more in the future. If any children would like more information about clubs locally please as Mr Brown for more information.
Thank you to Mrs Parker and Mrs Brown for providing lifts and their support on the day.

Cross Country League event Garden Fields.

On Thursday 10 children went to Garden Fields to take part in a Cross Country league event.  The course has a slight incline which the children had to run up twice, so I know it was not an easy run.  Congratulations to all the children who took part and completed the run, with a special mention to James Draper  who finished 18th in the boys event and Ellen Bennett who finished 22nd in the girls event.  Also thanks to Mrs Truran and Mrs Draper who took the children and looked after them in my absence.

Skipping Workshop

On the 16th and 17th October, we had two amazing days of skipping workshops where all the children had the opportunity to learn new skipping techniques and games from a qualified skipping coach.

At the end of the second day, a special assembly was given where further games and activities were shared with the children.  Congratulations to the children who broke skipping workshop records and are now on the National Skipping Workshop leader boards: http://www.skipping-workshops.co.uk/SkippingChallenge.aspx

The children had a fantastic time as is evidenced by the fact we sold out of skipping ropes literally in 5 minutes!!  If your child would like a skipping rope their are available to purchase here: http://www.skipping-workshops.co.uk/ContactUs.aspx

Football match vs Fleetville

Wow, what an exciting game!   The 1st team played today against Fleetville.  Despite going 3-1 down we continued to battle and finally levelled to end the game 3-3.  Well done James for a hat trick! Thank you to Mr Ruddick for refereeing.

Cross Country

Our next league meet is Thursday 17th October at Garden Fields.  Girls run at 4pm, boys at 4.10pm.  If you want extra training come to running club on Monday at 8.15 am.

football game v Windermere

Our 2nd team played Windermere in their league today.  Again all the boys played well.  We went 1 goal up very early.  Then Windermere came back and scored 2 in the 1st half.  In the 2nd half they quickly scored 2 more, but I was really proud of the boys as they battled on and scored 2 more goals.  There was an exciting last 5 minutes where we came close to scoring 3 or 4 times, but weren't quite able to find the net, so the final score was 3-4.
