Running Club

With the darker and colder mornings running club has stopped until next term.  We will let you know when it restarts.  Thank you to Mrs Paganuzzi for running the club.

The girls from Cheerleading club perfomed this morning to the rest of the school and parents in assembly.  It was lovely to see girls from all year groups taking part and working together for this display.  If you wish to join this club after Christmas please collect a from from the office.

Football Match v Cunninghamhill

This afternoon the boy's football A team played Cunninghamhill in the last league game before Christmas.  We were straight into the game,  with James scoring early in the first half.  We were the stronger side in the first half and James scored another goal.  In the second half Cunninghamhill had a few tries of goal, but Matthew kept them out.  James and Teddy scored another one each to make the final score 4-0 to use.  A great win boys.  Henry at the back did an excellent job.  Well done to all the boys.

4M Netball Class Competition.

4M has been working towards an intra class netball competition this term. We have grasped the skills needed in netball including: finding a space, constant movement, accurate thowing and catching, pivoting and shooting.

This week:
Reds (Danny, Ryan, Trystan, Riley, Siena, Callum, Hannah B and Scarlett) scored 6,
Greens (Elliot, Dylan, Jack, Jahnavi, Louis P, Amy and Talya) scored 4,
Light Blues (Muhammed, Paige, Jamie, Hannah P, Max, Louis G and Safi) scored 2,
and Dark Blues (Misia, Flynn, Daniela, Jacob, Mollie, Tigerlily and Romeo) scored 0. (They worked very hard and were really good at getting into a space.)

Our Behaviour Detectives noticed Flynn, Daniela, Jamie, Dylan and Hannah P working really well as a team.

Well done!

Year 5 Tag Rugby Tournament

Year 5 have been learning to play Tag Rugby in their PE lessons.  To use the skills and tactics they have learnt and take part in a competition we ran an intra-class mini tournament.  Each team played four games, scoring points for a win or a draw.  All the games were very close, but eventually 5A and 5DB were equal winners overall with 13 points, while 5B scored 10 points. Well done to all the children for trying their best and working well as a team.
Here are some pictures of the event taken by Thomas in 5A.

Netball Match V Maple

On Monday afternoon we walked to Maple to play our second league match.
We took a while to warm up and were 4 goals down at the end of the first half. With a good team talk from Miss Brown, we marked closely but unfortunately were unable to make a mark on the score sheet but Maple scored 2 more so we lost 6-0.
As Maple had another team available, we played another full match. This time we were more successful with our marking and attacking play and we quickly pulled away scoring 2 goals in the fist half. Maple scored 2 goals but in the last minute we managed to shoot the winning goal so a 3-2 win for Bernards Heath.

On Thursday the A team played against Prae Wood in the City Cup.  It was an excellent game. Prae Wood scored first, but we soon hit back so that at the end of the first 1/2 the score was level.  In the 2nd half we were stronger and scored 2 more goals to make the final score 3-1, which means we go through to the next round to played early next year.  Well done to Matthew for saving a penalty.

Gifted and Talented Football Academy Day

On Wednesday 6 boys from year 5 and 6; Jamie, Teddy, Matt, Joe, Henry and Flynn attended a Gifted and Talented Football Academy Day at Onslow St Audry Football Academy.  They had a motivational talk from the head coach at the academy, followed by various skills activities.  The day finished with a mini-tournament.  The boys had a great day.  Following the event I received an email praising the boys' attitude and behaviour on the day which was very pleasing.

Year 4 Mixed Tag Rugby Club - Thursdays Afterschool

A reminder, Year 4 Tag Rugby Club will be starting on Thursdays after school from the 21st November. Currently there are still spaces available.

This is a mixed club aimed at developing the evasion and ball skills associated with rugby, developing towards inter-school competitions held in the spring term. All practice will take place on the school playgrounds, therefore normal trainers are required, not boots with studs. Tracksuit bottoms and jumpers are required due to the colder weather.

If your child is interested in taking part please send a note to the school office giving your permission and a contact number.

Many thanks

Mr Brown

Football match v wheatfields

The boys B team played against Wheatfield B team on Thursday.   We put up good fight and despite the score it was a fairly evenly matched game.   Unfortunately we lost 4-2.  Our 2 goal scorers were both making their  first appearance for the team, William and Archie, so well done boys.

Netball Club 11.11.2013

Unfortunately due to the weather, I have cancelled Netball Club.
The 2 netball matches against Garden Fields at home will still take place as finding a slot that suits everyone is very challenging.
I apologise for any inconvenience.

Cross Country Championship

On Wednesday Ellen, Courtney, Charlotte T, James, Jude, Noah, Teddy and Joe ran in the Cross Country Championship at Wheatfields.  One lap of 1000m.  It was very slippy as it had been raining so the children got a bit muddy and wet, but they we still smiling at the end.  All the children finished in good positions.  A special mention to James who came 4th in the boys race, one place away from a medal!
Well done all of you.
