A team football match v Fleetville
On Tuesday our boys' A team played top of the league Fleetville. Throughout the game we played with determination, putting together some great passes and defending well. However, just before half time Fleetville managed to score. In the second half we continued to work hard and had a couple of chances on goal but were unable to convert any of them. We kept a clean sheet in the second half so that the final score was 1-0 to Fleetville. It was a very even game and I know the boys were disappointed to loose.

Girls Football League v Bowmans Green
The girls played their penultimate league match of the year today against Bowmans Green, with confidence high from their improved performances in the last two matches.
The girls started the match excellently creating some good chances but narrowly missing either side of the goal with shots from Francesca and Maisy. As the half progressed, more and more chances came our way until finally we managed to score from close range. This gave our girls some confidence and they almost immediately scored again through a strong strike. the girls pushed for a 3rd the half finished 2-0.
In the second half both teams made chances but Bowmans Green had the best, narrowly missing before pulling a goal back with a minute to go. the last few moments were tense but the girls held onto the ball in the opponents half until the final whistle to register a 2 - 1 win.
Well done to the girls on there excellent win!

The girls started the match excellently creating some good chances but narrowly missing either side of the goal with shots from Francesca and Maisy. Level 2 Indoor Athletics Finals
On Thursday the 3rd of March, our boys and girls teams competed at the St Albans Schools Indoor Athletics finals after qualifying from our heat back in January.
The boys and girls competed both on the track, in races such as obstacle relay, over under relay, 4 x 1 relay and 6 lap paarluff, and in field events, such as triple jump, javelin and speed bounce.
After qualifying the the 6th best score, from the heats, of 6 teams our children knew to do well they had to work hard and in the intervening months. They had given up multiple lunchtimes to practice with myself and Mrs Astley at their events and on their baton changes and it clearly worked and they regularly won races and excelled at the field events.
when the placing was announced the girls improved to 3rd and the boys 2nd, of the 6 teams competing. Overall with girls and boys combined the team scored a massive 184 points and came second in the whole of St Albans. A massive well done must go to the children for their brilliant performance and also a big thank you to all the parents who helped with transport there and back to school.

Year 4 football match v Killigrew
On Monday a team of year 4 boys played a friendly football match against Killigrew. It was the first time the boys have played together as a team representing Bernards Heath Juniors and they made me very proud to watch them. It was a really enjoyable game, played with great team spirit. The teams were very evenly matched with opportunities to score at both ends. The final result was a well deserved draw at 2-2.

Girls Football Friendly v Killigrew
Our girls B team were challenged to a friendly match vs Killigrew who we had previously lost to in the Wix cup at the start of the year.
Many of the girls who had not had a game thus far this year played and the mood was positive throughout the team. Early in the match we had much of the possession and terrirtory but just could find the cutting edge to get on the score sheet. As we pushed for a goal, we got caught twice on the counter attack and the half ended 2 - nil.
During half time, we concentrated on the positives and made our target to pull at least 1 goal back. Happily mid way through the half after a great run down the wing and cross, we managed to get on the score sheet with a fine strike. Then moments later, with a similar move we scored again to draw the game level.
Unfortunately as we pushed for the win we were caught out again and Killigrew score what turned out to be the winner but the girls played excellently and should be proud of there spirit to fight back from 2 - nil down!
Cant wait until the next match.

The girls had their second league match of the year this time away to St Bernardette's.
It was a new team with a mix of experience from Year Six and enthusiasm from a few of the Year 5 girls. The game was played at a fast pace, so fast that we went down to an early goal but this did not get the girls down. They pushed on taking control of the game and had the lions share of the possession and territory. We had shot after shot before finally we managed to bundle the ball in for the equalizer.
The girls pressed and pressed for the final 5 minutes to get the winner but unfortunately luck wasnt on our side but we came away with a draw. 1 - 1.
Well done to all the girls who played and we will aim to improve on that result in our next league game.

Year 5 football match v Killigrew
On Friday a team of boys from year 5 played a friendly match against Killigrew. Despite only having seven players, due to illness, the boys played well throughout the game. There was some very good passes which allowed us to score three very good goals in the first half. Our defense was also strong so Killigrew had very few chances on goal. In the second half we were a little tired and were unable to convert many of our chances. However, we did score one more goal, so that the final score was 4-0 to us.
Well done boys, a good result for the first year 5 game.
