Mini Athletics

Yesterday children from years 3, 4 and 5 went to St John Fisher school to compete in a mini athletics competition. The children took part in different activities including sprints, relays, a long distance run and throwing against three other schools. All of the children put in 100% effort and really did our school proud. In particular the year 5's had to step in for the year 6s while they were in Wales so were competing against much older teams. Well done to all of the children and to two of the boys who won their individual sprints. Thank you to the parents who helped and came along to support. All the children looked liked they had fun and enjoyed taking part!

Tri Golf Festival

Well done to all of those who participated in the Tri-Golf Festival at Nicholas Breakspear School. It was a very close competition and we scored 736 points to come third. Winners achieved 800 points. We all has great fun! The children supported each other and we have all learnt some new golf skills!

Mini Athletics

Unfortunately the Mini Athletics at St Peters last Thursday had to be cancelled due to the weather.  However I have been offered a place at another meet at St John Fisher on Thursday 5th June, 3.30 - 5pm which I have accepted.  Hopefully the children who were going to attend St Peters will be able to make this new date, letters will be sent out on the Monday we return.  Additional year 5 children will be invited to cover for year 6 who are away.

Primary School Challenge

Last year some of our children took part in the Children’s 1.5mile fun run with the support of the PTA.  This year we want to increase that number and attempt to win the Primary School Challenge awarded to the school with highest number of participants.   Parents will need to accompany any child under 8 years old.

All the children who take part will receive a medal and T-shirt.

It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible on the day.

Year 4 Gymnastics

Over the past few weeks year 4 have been working towards a gymnastics performance. Yesterday we performed our sequences and took photos of our balances so that we can evaluate them.

City Cup Football Finals

Last Wednesday the boys played in the City Cup Football Finals at the Clarence Park Football Stadium.  We had progressed through several rounds, playing school teams from around St Albans to reach this stage, along with three other schools, so just to be there was a huge achievement by the boys and one they should be proud of.
On the evening the boys played Fleetville in the semi- final (the other semi was Park Street v Wheatfields).  The team played very well, but we went 2-0 down at half time.  In the second half we managed to contain them, but were unable to put away our chances.  The final score remained 2-0 to Fleetville. 
Fleetville went on to win the final, while we played Park Street in the 3rd and 4th playoff.  It was a great game and ended 2-2.

So that brings our season to an end...I hope the boys have enjoyed playing and parents have enjoyed watching when you have been able to.  I have been very proud of the boys, they have been a credit to the school and I hope they will continue to play.

Speed Stacking Competition

On Friday 9^th May Jean, Callum, Jamie Trystan, Carys, Leila, Molly and Imogen represented the school at speed stacking. The children had a very short time to learn the 3,3,3 and 3,6,3 formation before starting their competition. All the children were actively involved throughout the morning and tried their best, recording a faster time with each attempt. They all behaved in an exemplary fashion and enjoyed the experience. We came 5^th overall and Jamie came third in an individual event.
