Wix Cup Football match

On Monday the A team played against Maple in the Wix Cup. This was a replay after the first match had ended in a draw.  We played extemely well and kept up the pressure of their defense until finally we scored late in the first half.  In the second half we kept battling and were the stronger side. Despite many more attempts on goal the score remained 1-0 to us. A great result as this means we go through to the next round of the Wix Cup.

Penalty Competition

Last Saturday 10 boys went to Clarence Park football ground, home of St Albans City Football Club, to take part in a penalty shoot out competition.  At the start of the match the boys were a guard of honour for the 2 teams.   The competition took part during the half time break of the St Albans City football match.  The boys were drawn against Skyswood.  Fred did an amazing job in goal saving 6 of their shots while our boys took some excellent penalties, almost all of which went in.  The final score was 8-4 to us.  This means we go through to the next round later in the season.
Well done boys!

City Cup match v Fleetville

On Monday the A team played Fleetville in the City Cup.  It was a very close game, but we seemd to have more of the chances. In the second half we finally broke through and scored.  But Fleetville came back and quickly scored an equaliser.  Then, with a short loss of concentration, Fleetville scored a second.  Despite quite a few attempts on goal we were unable to score again and the game ended in a loss to us 2-1.  It means our cup run has come to a very quick end.  However, there is still plenty to play for.

We are really pleased to announce that we have been awarded the School Games Gold Award in recognition of all the opportunities for sport and young leadership within the school

Football match v Fleetville

On Tuesday our B team played a league game against Fleetville B.  I was really proud of the effort and commitment the boys put in and there was plenty of red faces by the end of the match.  After a lot of pressure on their goal we eventually scored towards the end of the first half.  In the second half they immediately scored, 1-1.  Despite our best efforts they then went on to score a second, but we didn't give up, fought back to even the score 2-2.  It was a very exciting game and a credit to all the boys.

Football match v Killigrew

On Monday the A team played their first league game against Killigrew.  It was an exciting game with quite a few shots on goal and a number of great saves at either end.  All the boys worked hard, but it wasn't until the second half that we eventually broke through and scored the only goal of the game.
It's a good start to our league season.
